Logiks General (Intermediate) Practice Test

Those who are about to take the basic Cubiks test, Logiks General Intermediate, will have 12 minutes in general to answer 50 questions divided into 3 sections. Each section includes a different amount of questions within the same time limit-

  • Abstract Thinking (10 Questions in 4 Minutes)
  • Numerical Reasoning (16 Questions in 4 Minutes)
  • Verbal Reasoning (24 Questions in 4 Minutes)

In the Logiks General Intermediate Cubiks test, the questions are known for not being too complicated, and the most challenging part is to complete them correctly within the given time.

Now, let's dive into the practice test:

The answer is - (5)

 💡 Golden Tip:

To succeed in the Abstract Reasoning Section of Cubiks Logiks Intermediate, it's essential to train yourself to identify recurring visual patterns and transformations quickly. As Cubiks tests often incorporate consistent rules that govern these patterns, It would be a good idea to sharpen your ability to decipher these rules by progressively working through essential elements and building up to complex patterns. Practising these skills will enable you to unlock the underlying logic efficiently and confidently select the correct choices. You can find many more useful solving tips in our Logiks General Intermediate PrepPack and practice them using hundreds of questions and practice tests.

Part 2 - Numerical Reasoning

4. Which number comes next in the sequence?

0.1 , 0.4 , 0.9 , 1.6, 2.5 , __

2.9
3.4
3.6
4.3
4.9
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The correct answer is – 3.6

There are two ways to look at this series:

(1) The intervals increase by +0.2 in each step:

Error loading Partial View script (file: ~/Views/MacroPartials/Picture.cshtml)

2.5 + (0.9 + 0.2) = 2.5 + 1.1 = 3.6

(2) Another point of view:

   0.1,        0.4,        0.9,         1.6,         2.5         3.6

  12/10       22/10    32/10       42/10      52/10      62/10

The numerators are all to squares of natural number, starting with 1. Each step increases the natural number by one.

5. The temperature on Monday was (-6)°C, Tuesday was 2°C and Wednesday was 7°C. What was the average temperature over the three days?

1
-1
0
-2
2
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The correct answer is 1°C.

In order to calculate the average, sum up the temperatures over the three days and then divide by 3 days to arrive at the average temperature per day. Note that the temperature below zero is addressed as a negative number: [(-6) + 2 + 7] ÷ 3 = (3) ÷ 3 = 1°C.

6. Which sign completes the equation?

-3 ‒ 15 = -6 ? 3

+
-
:
X
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The correct answer is X

-3 ‒ 15 = -6 ? 3

-18 = -6 ? 3

By the method of trial and error, find the suitable operation for this equation.

-18 = -6 x 3

 💡 Golden Tip:

The biggest challenge in the Numerical Reasoning Questions on the Cubiks Test is the narrow timeframe to answer all (or at least most) questions. To quickly and accurately answer questions, quick-solving techniques are very useful. For example, in question 5, you can quickly narrow down the negative options, instantly eliminating options (-1), (-2) and (0), as -6+2<7. Therefore, the mean must be positive. You can find many more useful solving tips in our Logiks General Intermediate PrepPack and practice them using hundreds of questions and practice tests.

Part 3- Verbal Reasoning

7. Pick out the word that is the exception:

Beep
Noisy
Thud
Click
Clatter
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The correct answer is - Noisy

Noisy is the only adjective, while the other words are nouns. The adjective noisy describes the character of producing disturbing audible sound. On the other hand, the other words are nouns standing for different kinds of noises.

8.

Some of Josh’s shoes are blue.
None of Josh’s shoes are green.

If the two statements are true, what is the most logical conclusion?

A. All of Josh's shoes are not green.
B. Some of Josh's shoes are green
C. None of josh's shoes are black
D. None of the above
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The correct answer is (A).

(A) is correct because it is a rewording of the second statement. If “None of Josh’s shoes are green,” then “All of Josh’s shoes are not green.”

(B) is incorrect because no information is provided about whether Josh has orange shoes.

(C) is incorrect because no information is provided about whether Josh has black shoes.

Therefore, the correct answer is (A).

9. Fog is to Clarity as Crowd is to:

Person
Pounds
Privacy
Population
Gang
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The correct answer is Privacy.

There is a lack of clarity in a fog as there is a lack of privacy in a crowd.

10. Doubt is the opposite of..

Suspicion
Confusion
Ambiguity
Reluctance
Faith
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The correct answer is Faith.

Doubt means 'to be uncertain,' so the antonym is faithSuspicion and confusion are synonyms. Ambiguity is not related.

Therefore, the correct answer is faith.

 💡 Golden Tip:

When approaching the Cubiks Logiks Intermediate verbal reasoning questions, it is essential to pay meticulous attention to the subtleties in the text and the nuances in language. Cubiks often emphasises details that can distinguish the correct answer choice, so you should train yourself to extract key information efficiently while considering the broader context. This precision will help you discern the most contextually fitting responses and enhance your success on the test.  You can find many more useful solving tips in our Logiks General Intermediate PrepPack and practice them using hundreds of questions and practice tests.

Logiks General (Advanced) Practice Test

Those who are about to take the advanced Cubiks test, Logiks General Advanced, will have 20 minutes in general to answer 30 questions divided into 3 sections. Each section in this aptitude test includes a different amount of questions and has a different time limit-

  • Abstract Thinking (10 Questions in 4 Minutes)
  • Numerical Reasoning (8 Questions in 8 Minutes)
  • Verbal Reasoning (12 Questions in 8 Minutes)

The test is known for being more complicated than the Logicks General Intermediate Cubiks test, as the questions are much more complicated and longer, require interdisciplinary knowledge, and the time limit is much more significant due to the higher level of questions.

Now, after we've covered all the crucial information about the test structure, let's dive into the practice questions:

Part 1 - Abstract Reasoning

1. Which shape should come next in the series?

cubiks abstract 1.111

The correct answer is (2).

The three objects in this question move in different patterns.
The plus sign alternates between the top left and the lower right corners, and each step rotates 45°, turning into an X sign, and back into a + sign.
The horizontal double braces (the lower ones in the first frame) move around the corners anticlockwise, while the vertical double braces move around the corners clockwise.
Note that recognizing the movement of the plus sign is enough to rule out all answers but (2)

2. Which shape should come next in the series?

cubiks abstract 2ss

The correct answer is 2.

Every object in this question - the plus sign and the four lightnings - rotates 45 degrees clockwise in each step.

Note you can rule out answers (1), (4), and (5) based on the plus sign alone. To distinguish between answers (2) and (3) quickly, scan the lightnings compared to the fifth frame: the two lightnings at the bottom of the frame of answer (3) are identical to thos in the fifth frame, so answer (3) cannot be the correct answer.

3. Which shape should come next in the series?

cubiks abstract 2dss

The correct answer is (5)
At first, it may seem that with every step, another black square is added, but the fourth and fifth frames reveal that a three-square black "snake" is making its way clockwise around the edge of the frame. This means the missing frame should contain that same "snake", one step forward, as in answer (5).

 💡 Golden Tip:

The Abstract Reasoning Questions on the Logiks Advanced Cubiks test are much more challenging than those on the Intermediate test. Due to this, even though it is the same number of questions within the same time limit, the time limit is significantly more critical. It is essential to manage your time in this section wisely and to ensure you have enough time to address all questions. For tips about managing your time wisely on the Logiks Advanced, you can check out our Logiks General Advanced PrepPack

Part 2 - Numerical Reasoning

logiks num1

4. Which sector had the lowest unemployment in absolute values in 2006 in the UK and Australia combined?

Healthcare
Tourism & Hospitality
IT
Education
Construction
Other
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

We must add the unemployment figures for each sector in the UK and Australia and the smallest number will indicate the sector with the lowest unemployment. In this particular case we may also look at the actual percentages of the unemployment rate to give us an indication.
• Healthcare = 122000 + 54000 = 176000
• Tourism & Hospitality = 168000 + 65000 = 233000
• IT = 82000 + 119000 = 201000
• Education = 54000 + 87000 = 141000
• Construction = 79000 + 26000 = 105000

The answer is Construction.

5. Which sector had the greatest ratio of Australian to UK unemployed in 2006?

Healthcare
Tourism & Hospitality
IT
Education
Construction
Other
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The quickest way to solve this question is to look at the data before starting any calculations. The question asks about the ratio of Australian to UK unemployed. This means that the higher the Australian number and the smaller the UK number, the greater the ratio.

We can immediately eliminate the Healthcare, Tourism & Hospitality and Construction sectors, since the number of unemployed over the UK is greater than that of Australia.

Between IT and Education, in which the number of unemployed is greater in Australia, we can perform a direct calculation and find in which sector the requested ratio is higher.
The IT sector's ratio is 119000: 82000 = 1.45
The Education sector's ratio is 87000:54000 = 1.61.

The ratio is higher for the education sector; therefore, this is the correct answer.

6. Which sector had a ratio of the number of UK to Australian unemployed of approximately 3:1?

Healthcare
Tourism & Hospitality
IT
Education
Construction
Other
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

At a glance we can spot the only two sectors that have a UK to Australian ratio that is around 3:1 are the Construction and Other sectors.
The detailed calculation shows:
Construction UK : Construction Australia = 79000 : 26000 = 3.03 : 1
Other UK : Other Australia = 3605000 : 1009000 = 3.57
The Construction sector has an approximate UK to Australian ratio of 3:1.
The answer is Construction

Part 3 - Verbal Reasoning

Studies show that 88% of children treated with gene therapy—treating diseases by correcting a patient's faulty genes—for severe combined immune deficiency, or SCID, have had their immune systems restored. The best treatment for this rare disease is a bone marrow transplant from an immunologically matched sibling. When no matched donor is available, unmatched donors, such as parents, are recruited; these transplants are only around 70% successful. The success of gene therapy surpasses the success of these unmatched donor transplants. These overall impressive success rates are countered by another study's findings that a quarter of the subjects in Europe who have received gene therapy for a form of the disease that is linked to the X-chromosome have developed leukaemia, and one has died. The development of leukaemia is thought to have been induced by a component in the modified virus the researchers used to insert the correct gene into the children's cells. As for the 30 children worldwide, who have been treated with gene therapy for another form of SCID, marked by a deficiency in the enzyme adenosine deaminase (ADA), none has developed leukemia. The study's medical researchers maintain that gene therapy is still a better alternative than most conventional treatments for X-linked SCID because 19 of the 20 children who have received gene therapy for X-linked SCID are still alive.

7. Which one of the following statements best summarises the main point of the passage?

1. While children with ADA-SCID are invariably suitable for gene therapy, parents of children with X-linked SCID should consider treating their children with this potentially dangerous procedure.
2. Gene therapy is problematic for children with X-linked SCID since they may be inflicted with leukemia.
3. Gene therapy is the best method for treating SCID, though it may cause patients to develop leukemia.
4. While gene therapy has potentially harmful results for some SCID patients, it has shown promising results in treating most SCID patients.
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

Option (4) is the correct answer because the passage focuses on gene therapy as a treatment for SCID, stating that 88% of children who were treated had their immune systems restored. It is then mentioned that some subjects who were treated for a form of the disease that is linked to the X-chromosome 'have developed leukemia, and one has died,, while none of the subjects with ADA- SCID developed leukemia. The passage ends with medical researchers' claim that 'gene therapy is still a better alternative than most conventional treatments for X-linked SCID'.

Option (1) is incorrect because even though the passage mentions that a quarter of the subjects who have received gene therapy for a form of the disease that is linked to the X-chromosome have developed leukemia, and one has died', the passage emphasizes gene therapy's success 'surpasses' that of other treatments. Gene therapy is also referred to as 'a better alternative than most conventional treatments for X-linked SCID'. Based on this information, it cannot be inferred that a part of the main point of the passage is that parents should consider whether to choose gene therapy as the treatment for their children. Even though the first half of the answer choice regarding ADA-SCID seems to be accurate and relevant to the main point of the passage, the second half includes inaccurate information and therefore this option can be eliminated.

Option (2) is incorrect because even though the information presented in this answer choice is true based on the passage—'a quarter of the subjects who have received gene therapy for a form of the disease that is linked to the X-chromosome have developed leukaemia'—the focus on gene therapy as a problematic procedure cannot be considered the main point of the passage. The passage states that even though gene therapy may induce the development of leukaemia in X-linked SCID patients, it is still 'a better alternative than most conventional treatments for X-linked SCID'. This means that the passage focuses on much more than just the treatment being dangerous, and so this option can be eliminated.

Option (3) is incorrect because the first part of the answer choice presents inaccurate information. According to the passage, 'the best treatment for this rare disease is a bone marrow transplant from an immunologically matched sibling'. Gene therapy is mentioned as 'a better alternative than most conventional treatments for X-linked SCID,' and as a method that 'surpasses' unmatched donors bone marrow transplants, though it is not enough to conclude that gene therapy is the best method for treating SCID.

8. Which one of the following assumptions is definitely made in the passage?

A. X-linked SCID is a more severe form of SCID than ADA-SCID
B. Siblings are often immunologically matched.
C. SCID can be a fatal disease.
D. Bone marrow transplants are preferable to gene therapy in most cases.
Correct Answer
Incorrect Answer

The correct answer is (C).

Option (C) is the correct answer because according to the passage, medical researchers recommend gene therapy for X-linked SCID 'because 19 of the 20 children who have received gene therapy for X-linked SCID are still alive'. It can be inferred that the medical researchers are recommending parents of X-linked SCID patients to consider gene therapy based on their study in which only one patient has died. Though the treatment has been proven to induce the development of leukaemia in some of the patients, researchers still recommend parents to choose this treatment for their children since their chances of survival are relatively good. This means that without the treatment, the disease may be fatal, and patients may die.

Option (A) is incorrect because there is no indication in the text to X-linked SCID being a more severe form of SCID compared to ADA-SCID. The only comparison between the two forms of SCID made in the passage is regarding the development of leukaemia in patients in response to gene therapy. The fact that only subjects suffering from X-linked SCID developed leukaemia in response to gene therapy does not necessarily mean that X-linked SCID is a more severe form of SCID than ADA-SCID. There is not enough information in the passage to base this assumption on.

Option (B) is incorrect because according to the passage the best treatment for SCID is a bone marrow transplant 'from an immunologically matched sibling'. It cannot be inferred from this sentence that siblings are often immunologically matched, only that immunologically matched siblings are the best option for bone marrow transplants in SCID patients.

Option (D) is incorrect because according to the passage, bone marrow transplants are 'the best treatment' for SCID only when the donor is an immunologically matched sibling. Bone marrow transplants from an unmatched donor 'are only around 70% successful', while 'gene therapy surpasses the success of these unmatched donor transplants'. This means you are asked to assess the preference of bone marrow transplants in general—both immunologically matched sibling and unmatched donor combined—over gene therapy. Since there is no information in the passage that points to the number of bone marrow transplants completed with an immunologically matched sibling or with an unmatched donor, it is not possible to assume that bone marrow transplants are preferable to gene therapy in most cases.
